1 Plan before leaving
During a declared risk, check restrictions and postpone unnecessary travel. Agree with family how to communicate and what to do if separated. Do not rely only on a map without current information.
2 Avoid watching and gathering
Do not approach an impact site, debris or a crowd watching the event. Follow police instructions and an available safe route to protection. Do not cross cordons or closed sections.
3 Keep access clear for responders
Do not stop for photographs or arguments. During travel, follow instructions on stopping and evacuation and leave emergency access clear. If trapped or in immediate danger, seek help through 112.
Practical checklist
- Travel restrictions checked.
- No approaching incident sites.
- Cordons and instructions followed.
- Emergency access left clear.
